Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a planning decision?

The time frame as set by the Government is 8 weeks for minor planning applications and 13 weeks for larger scale development. However, given the current pressure on Local Planning Authorities, these timescales are often not adhered to. If you are unsure whether your development is minor or major – give us a call and let AWP provide you with the advice you need to ensure your project is equipped with everything it needs to get it through the LPA as quickly as possible.

I have already undertaken my project and now found out I need planning permission – what do I do?

Don’t panic! Give us a call, we can chat through the development you have undertaken and prepare the necessary planning application to the LPA to seek the ability to regulate the development.

I have been served an Enforcement notice – what do I do now?

There will be clear directions on the enforcement notice of what you need to do in order to rectify the situation. If your still concerned and not sure what to do, give us a call, and we can help advise you.

I have been refused planning permission – can I appeal?

Yes! You can! Be aware of the timescales for appeal however, as householder applications can only be appealed within 12 weeks of the decision, whilst other applications have 6 months. At AWP we can manage your appeal from start to finish, so give us a call now and we can help resolve this for you.

What is permitted development?

Good question! There are several types of development that do not require planning permission. This all depends on the type of development, its scale and location as set out within the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order. If you are unsure and would like to discuss your project, do give us a call.
